"Caught on Video"

I loved this article! I had honestly never sat down and thought about how beneficial a digital video camera would be in a classroom. All the different ways a teacher could use a video camera in class were so interesting. When I was in high school, a few of my teachers used video cameras to record short skits and a few time a teacher showed video clips of previous years classes, but they were using an old camera and often times the teacher could not find what they were looking for. I sometimes got nervous when the teacher brought out the camera, but it was fun getting to watch back all the performances. I think if the camera was used often in the classroom that students would get used to it and it would not be such a bit deal. Students might also work harder at a presentation knowing that they would be watching it over again. I think teachers could also asses presentations better because they could watch them back and not just have to frantically write down notes.

  1. Natile, I have found that if the teacher uses a flip video, or some other new small video recorded, that the students are less nervous then when a big bulky camera is pulled out. When teachers I have had have used the flip most of the time I forget it is even there and I feel like the teacher gets a more natural response from students. I do think that having a recording helps students see where they need to improve themselves and for the teacher to better evaluate.
