End of Semester Reflection

I have learned so much about technology in education since the first of this semester. I had no idea what incorporating technology into a classroom looked like other than an occasional overhead or PowerPoint. Now I feel like a have so many fun ideas of how to incorporate technology into my classroom. I also used to be a little skeptical of using a lot of technology in the classroom because I thought that technology would start doing the teaching. I now realize that technology can be an extremely useful tool to help students learn content and have fun doing it too. I still feel like I have tons to learn about using technology in the classroom, but this class has defiantly jumpstarted my curiosity and willingness to learn. I now see the importance of being aware and up on technology since we are living in such a technology based age. There is no hiding from it.
My NETS for teachers was:
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership.
I have progressed in this area by making a point to understand that technology is an area I struggle in and work towards becoming more comfortable with it. I think my attitude towards technology has changed drastically throughout the semester. I have been practicing using technology more in my every day life and how to incorporate it into my own learning. While taking a geography class this semester, I found a lot of map games and quizzes on line that helped me study for tests. I don’t think I would have thought of looking to technology for extra practice had it not been for this class.
