I learned from reading this article that Interactive White Boards (IWBs) can be very effective tools for teaching science to very young children. Young children are very interested in science and figuring out how things work, but because they are not old enough to read or write, it can be difficult for teachers to teach or asses their learning. The use of an interactive while board engages young children’s minds in a variety of ways including visual-spatial, auditory, and kinesthetic. Children can have fun using the board to do experiments and teachers have an easy way to project images and play video clips for all the children to see. Students are very interested in technology and enjoy interacting with it in school. Teachers can use IWB’s for interactive learning activities, reinforcing key ideas, and assessment.

This article not only told about the benefits of using the IWB’s with younger children, it also describes the IWB, how it is installed, different uses, cost and limitations.
